Interviews with the Founders

EVOS Investment Company began operating in 2020. Our company has had its challenges and successes. We have formalized certain components of the company with greater efficiency, improving customer experiences, increasing member feedback and structure. The work has led to the development of the Founder’s Corner, a collection of interviews dedicated to the visionaries who saw an opportunity to expand their gifts into tangible community idealism. EVOS has only started to touch the surface of the impact the company is committed to making. According to dictionary.com, a venture capitalist is defined as “an investor in companies or projects in which there is a substantial element of risk, typically new or expanding businesses.” The founders of EVOS Investment Company speak to the epitome of that as starting a family business the lines are not always clear. My hope is these interviews provide insight into what it means to strive and achieve. Background differences aside, we can and do somehow make it work.

The first interview is with the current Vice President of EVOS Investment Company, Roger Underwood. In addition to the company, Roger is an electrician and general contractor, who works hard to provide for his family. Conducting these interviews, the goal was to ask a series of questions and responses, but the structure flowed more with follow up questions. Asking the additional details expanded the conversation. Roger provided a great interview and insight into why he is with the company. Read Roger’s interview as the first in this series.

The second interview is with the current President of EVOS Investment Company, Anthony McBride. Anthony has had an interesting career that began with Allegheny County, working in probation. He provided a great interview and insight as to why he is with the company and how his work has been the building blocks to growth. Read Anthony’s interview as the second in this series.

The third interview is with the youngest member of the Founders, King Underwood. King, an intelligent young man, is watching and learning how we are progressing maybe not as quickly as we want our business to flourish, but bit by bit we are getting there. My interview with King was lighthearted. His favorite parts: taking pictures and reading. Read King’s interview as the third in this series.

The fourth interview is with the Teresa Brown, Special Events, for EVOS Investment Company. Teresa has had a career spanning over 30 years with the City of Pittsburgh and a former elected Constable. Teresa provided a great interview detailing her experiences and why she is an investor with the company. Read Teresa’s interview as the fourth in this series.

The fifth interview is with Tiffanie Williams, a founding member of EVOS Investment Company. Tiffanie’s career has been in the nonprofit sector, after a life of dance which, was heightened with auditions in New York City and meeting Judith Jamison. Tiffanie provided a great interview, providing insight into what it means to her for our company to support the creation of wealth in the black community. Read Tiffanie’s interview as the fifth in this series.

The sixth interview, while we are still working to conduct, is with Reginald Brown, a founding member of EVOS Investment Company. Reg’s career, as a marine, an artist and now in utilities, is continuing to be written. While I did not have the opportunity to complete the interview, you can read the introduction. Read it as the sixth in this series.

The seventh interview would have been with Reginald L Brown, a founding member of EVOS Investment Company. A retired military police officer and corrections officer. We will continue to try to conduct this interview.

The eighth interview to be scheduled will be with me, Pamela D Brown Underwood, a founding member of EVOS Investment Company. Pamela’s career has been in the government sector, while also being an entrepreneur, author and many other titles. Tiffanie will be conducting the interview.

The recent release is the interview hiatus. There will be a compilation of the interviews conducted, providing additional insights.

The compilation has been released and being thrilled to have so many gems is a blessing! A combination of member responses that turned into critical reflection of thoughts shared, which then turned into over 7 resounding life resources. Read on and find out.

The gems, as expressed, speak to an organization with hopes for a promising future. While we cannot say EVOS will meet and exceed every objective, we know the organization is determined, with members taking the work seriously and showing up to bring it to fruition. That’s what being committed and showing up long after the mood has passed is all about.

Quite honestly, I want to be the best person I can be. I want to pay it forward the best way I can. Right now, I feel I’m doing my life's work and want to be doing more. There are things I said I want to be doing and believe me those things do not go away. I don’t think I will ever be too old to look back and say I want to give that a shot.

Have patience. Patience is a virtue. Nothing comes overnight. You can’t get wealthy overnight. You have to hang in there. Put some input in. Make sure that you guide yourself and have the strength to put more effort into the company to help it get to where it needs to go.

I try not to live my life based on regrets or missed opportunities. Those just come with life. For me, it’s been about growth or timing. If you feel you have missed opportunities or regrets, things come with timing. I think everyone has those as part of their development or growth.
